A Catholic man, by nature of his baptism and as a disciple of Jesus Christ, is called to be holy and to share in the evangelistic mission of the Church. We hear this call clearly when Jesus says in the Gospel to “be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Mt. 5:48) and to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Mt. 28:19). Every Knight should be enabled through his council and fraternal life to fulfill this call. For this reason, as Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly has directed, we are recommitting our efforts as an Order to ensure that each council is able to provide men with the opportunity to grow and be formed in their Catholic faith and evangelize the world around them.
Once again, Supreme has chosen Arizona to participate in a pilot program that will help us answer this call. The Evangelization and Faith Formation program will help our order ensure that each council is able to provide men with the opportunity to grow and be formed in their Catholic faith and evangelize the world around them.
It is my great honor to have appointed Deacon Bruce Bennet from Council 16277 to be the State Director of this program for the Diocese of Phoenix, and Our Worthy State Advocate Larry Powers as State Director of the Diocese of Tuscon. Our Worthy State Secretary will be the alternate Director. They will lead and further the evangelization and faith formation initiatives of the Supreme Council and State Councils for the men of their jurisdiction. Under the directives of the Supreme Council of Evangelization and Faith Formation Team and authorization of the State Deputy, the Directors and their team will provide support and coaching on strategies and tools for councils on evangelization and faith formation training for leaders and members.
