Congratulations to Father Richard Rivera, the Diocese of Tucson's newly ordained priest! Father Richard shared his immense gratitude to all those who have encouraged him on his vocation journey:
Thank you, firstly to those responsible for accepting me into the seminary; Bishop Kicanas, thank you for accepting me into the seminary to discern God’s call.
To the Most Reverend Bishop Edward Weisenburger, thank you for ordaining me a priest of Jesus Christ. I am forever grateful to you for bestowing upon me the gift of the priesthood, a gift that is not for oneself, but for the people of God. Thank you, Bishop.
To the rector of the seminary, Fr. John Kartje, Fr. Marek Duran who was my hall priest, Fr. Brendan Lupton who was my spiritual director and the seminary faculty, thank you for your love and support throughout my formation. Special thanks to Fr. Marek; thank you for being present throughout the ups and downs of formation. Your guidance during my seminary years has allowed me to flourish in so many ways and I ask that you continue to guide and support me as I begin my life as a priest.
To those whose guided me through it all, Fr. Patrick Crino, Director of Vocations and Monalisa Oreschnick in the vocations office, thank you for all you’ve done from the beginning of my discernment. And there are so many friends who have been blessings to me along the way. If I tried to list you all, I would run out of paper but you know who you are and the gift you’ve been. Lastly I’d like to thank my family and the parish of St andrew’s. This is also a testament to your selfless love. I couldn’t be more grateful to you!
