Four Catholic Schools Seek Principals

Four Catholic schools in the Diocese of Tucson are seeking to hire principals: St. Charles Apache Mission School, San Xavier Mission School, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, and San Miguel High School. 

Under the direction of the pastor, the parish school principal functions as the school’s spiritual and academic leader, fostering Catholic Identity in accordance with the school’s mission statement and philosophy; and is also responsible for supporting the Diocese of Tucson in its mission to evangelize and catechize youth in a Catholic School environment. The principal is a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “living in a manner worthy of the call you have received” (Eph. 4:1).
 

St. Charles Apache Mission School

St. Charles Apache Mission School is located on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. The school is a beacon in the San Carlos community, serving as a foundation for a life lived in service to Jesus, the Church, and community while rooted in Apache identity for children living on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. Students engage in Apache culture through Apache language classes which preserve a quickly disappearing language that is vital to the survival of Apache culture. From early childhood through sixth grade, the faculty is devoted to the well-being and success of every student.

San Xavier Mission School

The first Catholic school in Arizona, San Xavier Mission School opened in November 1864. Throughout its history, the school has been committed to educating, nurturing, and empowering Tohono O'odham students, other Native American students, and students of all cultures, to strengthen their living expression of the Catholic faith. We are looking for a school leader who will help build a diverse academic program that develops a student's respect for tradition and culture as well as provides the necessary academic skills to succeed in an ever-changing world while forming children in their faith and service to others. San Xavier Mission School welcomes qualified applicants to help build a strong Catholic K-2nd Grade program to open in Fall 2024.

St. John the Evangelist Catholic School

Currently the largest Catholic elementary school in the diocese, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School has been serving the families of South Tucson since September 1950. The school provides a challenging, faith-filled, educational experience that serves as the foundation for a life lived in service to Jesus, to the Church, and to the Community. “We see our students’ gifts as given by God and, therefore, take responsibility for returning them to God fully developed”. St. John the Evangelist Catholic School community invites all people to a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, to see God in all things, and to guide students on the path to college and heaven.

San Miguel High School

San Miguel High School is a Lasallian, Catholic learning community that empowers youth from underserved families through the integration of Christian values, rigorous academics, and practical work experience, educating the whole student for college, career, and a fulfilling life. The Lasallian heritage calls all teachers and students to be ambassadors of Christ and to touch the hearts and minds of all those around us. As a Cristo Rey school, San Miguel’s students take a full college preparatory course load while simultaneously holding internships, working in corporations, and earning nearly forty percent of their school tuition.
