St. Rita in the Desert’s Festival Returns!

 

Vail, AZ -  For 87 years St. Rita in the Desert has been the faith center for Vail’s Catholic Christian life. We have served the community through our daily Mass, faith formation classes, Outreach food distribution and clothing drives, St. Vincent de Paul Conferences, and the annual St. Rita Festival. Dating back to the 1990s, the festival was always intended to be annual. There are many reasons, including the pandemic, that the festival was suspended for a few years, but we are Rockin’ Back this year with our St. Rita in the Desert, 19th Annual Fall Festival.

Long-time Vail residents and parishioners of St. Rita’s have fond memories of the family fun at this community event. The festival is open to the public, so we hope you bring your friends and neighbors. We think the Festival is as much a part of the Vail community as the “V” sign or the Train Depot.

The cost of admission is a smiling face and a desire to enjoy our community as we gather together. Come and join us at this two-day festival featuring 50/50 Raffle with prizes, the Big Cash Raffle with prizes of $2,500, $1,000, and $500, quilt raffle, craft vendors, kid’s train ride, activities and games, food, drink (including adult beverages), white elephant and a silent auction.  Rincon Fire Dept. will have a fire truck on display (when not needed). Local artists and organizations will display their talents during the event for your enjoyment. All donations benefit St. Rita in the Desert Catholic Church, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.

Built in 1935, The Shrine of Santa Rita and St. Rita in the Desert Roman Catholic Church anchor the Vail community in Southern Arizona. The Shrine of Santa Rita, which appears on the National Register of Historic Places, celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2020. The community of St. Rita in the Desert demonstrates service, community involvement, liturgy and education to parishioners and the community.
