Arizona has seen an intense surge in Covid-19 cases as well as hospitalizations. The situation is very dangerous. If you are not aware then please take note of the following:- The infection rate in Arizona 90 days ago was .27%. As of today it is 1.66%.
- While it changes from day to day, as of today Arizona is the #1 state in the Nation for positivity rate (sharing the virus)
- Less than 10% of ICU beds in the State of Arizona are available, which is approximately 170. There are no available ICU beds in Pima County hospitals and the sick around the state are now mostly being transferred to the few remaining available ICU beds in Phoenix.
- We have contracted 6,000 new cases per day for the last seven days.
- Yuma and Cochise Counties are facing the greatest increase have now met or exceeded the positivity rates of the Navaho Nation.
- The first is that you join with me daily in praying the following prayers from our Catholic heritage for an end to the pandemic: Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.
- Second, because you are loved by your clergy and communities, I am urging those over the age of 65 or with any health concerns to please refrain from in-person participation at our parishes. While I believe we have good protocols in place, the best way you can stay safe is by staying home and allowing us to pray with you through the internet until this pandemic is more under control.
