With this Mass, celebrated in the evening of the Thursday in Holy Week, the Church begins the sacred Easter Triduum and devotes herself to the remembrance of the Last Supper.

Holy Thursday services also include Washing of the Feet and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Host is then carried in solemn procession to the Altar of Repose where it will remain ‘entombed’ until the communion service on Good Friday. No Mass will be celebrated again in the Church until the Easter Vigil proclaims the Resurrection.
