September 15, 2020, Adrian, Michigan – The Adrian Dominican Congregation celebrates the dedication and commitment of 69 Sisters who in 2020 mark their Jubilees, their milestone years of service and dedication to the Church and the Congregation. The 2020 Jubilee Class includes 9 Sisters celebrating 75 years; 26 Sisters celebrating 70 years; 32 Sisters celebrating 60 Sisters years; one Sister celebrating 50 years; and one Sister celebrating 25 years.
Sister Rina (Jeanne Dominic) Cappellazzo, OP, celebrating 70 years of religious life, entered the Adrian Dominican
Congregation in 1950 and professed her First Vows on August 9, 1951 and her Final Vows on August 9, 1956. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Siena Heights College (now University) in Adrian, Michigan in 1957 and a master’s degree in English from the University of New Mexico-Albuquerque in 1965.
Sister Rina taught in elementary and high schools until 1972, predominantly in Arizona and New Mexico. This included her teaching years at St. Anthony, Casa Grande, from 1957 to 1959 and again from 1968 to 1970.
After that, Sister Rina branched out into a variety of ministries. These included campus ministry, liturgy, and staff development. She served as Vicar for Women Religious for the Diocese of Orange, California, 1991 to 1995; Director of Pastoral Formation for the American College at the Catholic University of Louvain in Louvain, Belgium, 1995 to 1999; and Vicar of Religious for the Diocese of Tucson, 2007 to 2012.
Sister Rina retired form formal ministry in 2013 and is currently residing in the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan, involved in the ministry of prayer and presence.
