Bishop Edward Weisenburger Condemns Violent Protests and Prays for Peace

TUCSON, Ariz.--- Edward J. Weisenburger, Bishop of the Diocese of Tucson, issued the following statement in response to the violence in the United States Capitol:

“I join Archbishop Jose Gomez, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and citizens across our great Nation in denouncing the violence that occurred in Washington, D.C.  There is no justification for violence, and I pray for the members of Congress, Capitol staff, law enforcement officials, and all those working to restore order and public safety in our Capitol and across the country.  During and after the transition of our Nation’s leadership, we must recommit ourselves to establishing that unity so prized by our Nation’s founders as well as those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
