Bishop Weisenburger's Call to Action: Helping those affected by Severe Storms across the Midwest

"We have witnessed epic destruction over the weekend in parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky and elsewhere.  Our prayers go out to all those impacted by these severe storms and tornadoes.  
 
The Catholic Charities USA Disaster Operations team supports local Catholic Charities agencies that have been affected.  As Catholics we can take great pride in the knowledge that Catholic Charities, both nationally and locally, engage as early responders and remain in recovery support for the long-term.  Susan Montalvo-Gesser of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Owensboro, one of the hardest hit regions, noted in an early email that  “At least four of our parishes were damaged, some heavily so. . .Many of the parishioners from St Joseph in Mayfield (heavily immigrant community) were out cleaning up and assisting people before the National Guard got there.”
