Catholic Community Services (CCS) initiated 3 programs to assist families who had financial challenges as a result of covid. Two of those programs, (eviction prevention and childcare scholarships) were part of the city of Tucson program, “We Are One/ Somos Uno “ and the other was also assisting with eviction prevention and is a partnership with the State of Arizona Department of Economic Security.
CCS is in the process of closing out the City of Tucson Eviction Prevention Program, which they initiated on September 15. To date CCS will have assisted 461 families with $545,300 in rent assistance and $243,640 in utility assistance. The Childcare Scholarship fund was initiated on November 9 and CCS estimates that it will have served 875 children from 581 families with about $641,000 in scholarship assistance.
CCS' program with DES for eviction prevention is ongoing and is expected to provide about $200,000 in eviction prevention assistance when complete. CCS is grateful to its government partners for providing an estimate of $1,629,940 worth of assistance to families who have come for help.
