The Cursillo three-day event is a time when Cursillistas by Desire (formerly known as candidates) withdraw from their everyday lives and spend time getting in touch with themselves, reflecting on their relationship with Christ, and build friendships and consider plans for when they return to their communities. It includes talks by members of the team of laity and clergy selected to present talks, having worked together for several months, artwork to express themselves, singing, silence, and numerous other activities to include daily masses and opportunities for reconciliation. The activities that take place during the three-day event are designed to provide life-changing explanations about the Cursillo movement and the Cursillo movement and help build friendships for living the Cursillo movement following the three-day event.
The three-day event begins when the Cursillista by Desire’s sponsor takes them to the gathering place on Thursday evening and entrusts them to the team who will be with them on their three-day journey. The team will care for the newest Cursillista and help explain the fundamentals over the course of the three-days. It ends when they join the Cursillo community at the closing event Sunday evening and return to their communities with their sponsor or family and friends.
This is an extremely Catholic event – Adoration, rosary, morning and evening prayer. This is an energizing event – singing, art, meals, fellowship, joy, tears, laughter, silence, and so much more are incorporated into this three-day period of withdrawal and renewal. No one can say specifically what a person will experience during their three--day Cursillo event or how the person will react/respond, but nobody is the same after the three-day event.
Come away with me! Cursillo could change your life and your relationship with Christ, the Church, your community, and yourself…forever.
