"When Liberals Were Pro-Life”
This session will examine the history of the pro-life movement before Roe v. Wade, particularly the pro-life movement’s roots in social justice. Professor Williams will also discuss the role of pro-life feminism and address some still prevalent misconceptions about the history of abortion in the United States of America.
About the speaker: Daniel K. Williams is a professor of history at the University of West Georgia and the author of Defenders of the Unborn: The Pro-Life Movement before Roe v. Wade and God's Own Party: The Making of the Christian Right. His articles have appeared in Christianity Today, First Things, the New York Times, and the Washington Post.
