On June 27th, Bishop Edward J Weisenbuger and Bishop Gerald Kicanas celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles. It happened at St. Luke Catholic Church in Douglas, AZ.
The sisters have been staff at the Loretto Catholic School in Douglas for 34-years. Four Sisters have served as principal, and a total of 34 Sisters have taught in the school during their time there. After several decades, they found that they needed to reorganize to ministries closer to the motherhouse.
Bishop Weisenburger presided at a Mass of Thanksgiving and Farewell, concelebrated by Bishop Kicanas, Fr. Virgilio “Jojo” Tabo (Pastor), and numerous priests of the Diocese who previously served in Douglas.
The Diocese of Tucson is grateful for the Carmelite Sisters for ministering to the children in Douglas for all those years. We pray for many blessings on them and on their journey.
