Every school year at Immaculate Heart, students and their families set up tents and spend the night camping out on the school’s soccer field. The students enjoy a fun filled evening sponsored by the school’s Dad’s Club - lead by parent, Nick McCaster.
The Dad’s Club at Immaculate Heart School has been around for over 20 years and they have been sponsoring the school’s camp out every year (except during COVID) for 18 years. The purpose of the Dad’s Club was for Dads to put on events for the children of IHS. The campout is normally in the months of October/November. This year we had to move the date, due to snake activity.
The evening started with Mass at the Sisters Chapel then dinner. After dinner, the kids played or watched a movie on a big outdoor screen system, and finally they were warmed up with a big campfire and s’mores. In the morning, they woke up to a hearty breakfast prepared by the Dad’s Club.
The temperatures did drop down to the 30’s that night but the kids and parents didn’t mind the chilly night. “It got down to 38 last night with the wind that took out the tent next to us,” said parent, Michelle Garrett. "But we stayed warm and had a great time.”
“I love hanging out with my friends at the camp out and I will attend every year!” said student, Maya Pieterse.
