Please ask your legislators to support HB 2575 so that dying patients can receive the comfort and spiritual assistance they need most during these difficult times.
Unfortunately, too many people have died alone during the pandemic and without religious accommodations at the end of life. Even today, there remain some health care institutions where dying patients are not allowed in-person clergy visits and the ability to receive sacraments or other spiritual assistance.
If passed into law, HB 2575 will require that hospitals and health care institutions allow in-person clergy visits for people of any faith when it is requested by the patient and once any other visitors are allowed. This is a common sense piece of legislation that ensures these visits follow reasonable health and safety protocols and will provide great comfort to dying patients and their families.
For all of the reasons above, please politely ask your legislators to vote yes on HB 2575 when it receives a floor vote as early as this week!
