Last Friday, December 3, the annual Mass in Honor of the Farm Workers was celebrated in the parking lot of the old Del Sol Market, at 670 South Main Street, near the border of San Luis, AZ.
It's where hundreds of farm workers cross daily to work in the agricultural fields of Yuma County.
The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by the pastor and Vicar Forane Immaculate Concepción’s Parish, Fr. Manuel Fragoso, accompanied by priests and deacons of the Yuma/La Paz Vicariate.
Fr. Manuel Fragoso in his homily highlighted the farm workers as "essential workers" ...they are the ones who day by day through their sacrifices harvest the food so that we can feed ourselves...".
Over the years, the presence and commitment of our bishops, priests and deacons of the Vicariate of Yuma-La Paz has instilled a sense of community, solidarity and faith within this marginalized population.
