I am saddened by the divisive rhetoric that pervades our politics, especially around election time. While as Catholic citizens we are all called to participate and to vote, we must lead by doing so with the utmost respect for the human dignity of each other.
The Catholic Church is always nonpartisan, and we strongly encourage faithful citizens to form their consciences well before voting. For those who are not yet registered to vote for the November 5th general election, the deadline is October 7th, and early voting begins on October 9th.
If you are not already registered to vote or want to request a ballot by mail, you can easily do so by going to www.arizona.vote.
Additionally, if you want to learn more about why Arizona’s Catholic Bishops oppose Proposition 139 and Proposition 314 relating to the protection of human life and dignity, I encourage you to visit www.azcatholicconference.org.
