A Mothers Day Art Show will give Tucsonans a chance to mingle with the Saint Francis Community on Saturday, May 7th from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Parish in Tucson. The art show features five local artists and includes paintings, multi-media pieces, and stone sculptures.
“We are very excited to be able to present these unique works in our beautiful courtyard,” Executive Director Carl Zawatski said, adding that community members would be acting as docents and hosts throughout the afternoon. In addition to the artworks, the Community’s Gift Shop will be open. Items for sale include religious books and Native American jewelry.
The Saint Francis Community is a group of formerly homeless men who have become working members of this semi-monastic contemplative group. The men operate a twice-weekly food pantry for their Tucson neighbors, and will be helping to run a summer cooling center at Z Mansion when temperatures reach three digits.
Art Gallery purchases will benefit the Saint Francis Community, which is a tax exempt 501C3 corporation. Cash and credit cards are accepted; masks and social distancing are encouraged. The show will take place outdoors in the group’s landscaped courtyard and attendees will find plenty of free parking.
