Parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Benson celebrated another successful Thanksgiving Food Basket drive and distribution to the needy on Tuesday, November 21st from their Parish Hall.
The Logan Derosier Knights of Columbus Council #7521, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society (Saint Bernadette Conference), and many parishioners collected goods and donated their time and money to distribute over 100 turkeys, in addition to 600 canned goods, packages of stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, and cranberries that fed more than 500 needy people in Benson and surrounding communities.
Our Lady of Lourdes conducts this food basket distribution each year. This Thanksgiving marked a record number of families that requested food baskets.
Our Lady of Lourdes Pastor, Father Martin, blessed and thanked the Knights of Columbus and the many volunteers who worked so hard to make this year’s distribution a well-organized event.
Parish volunteers also prepared and provided a wonderful meal on Thanksgiving Day, prepared in our kitchen, to more than fifty people in our Benson community who were unable to prepare their own Thanksgiving meal or just wanted fellowship on this special day.
Again, many thanks to our Knights, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and our generous Parishioners for their time and financial resources to make this year’s food basket distribution and Thanksgiving meal a total success.
