A group of parishioners from the Diocese of Tucson have been peacefully protesting outside of The Loft Cinema theater for the film "Benedetta."
There were showings of the film until Dec. 9th at the theater. Many of the protestors say the film is pornographic and disrespects the Catholic Church, Jesus Christ, and the Blessed Mother Mary.
In the film's description it's about; "A 17th-century nun in Italy [who] suffers from disturbing religious and erotic visions. She is assisted by a companion, and the relationship between the two women develops into a romantic love affair."
The parishioners stood outside praying the Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet for those who created the film and those who were watching it.
Some responses from the public were positive, and other's were negative. Angry people would say the protesting would make them watch it to spite the protestors, while others praised the protestors for standing up for their Church.
