This is a special week for Catholic schools as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week and focus on the value that Catholic education brings to our communities. This was the year to think outside the box and come up with creative ideas for the week, and the school raised to the challenge by launching some fun and new ways to celebrate during these unusual circumstances.
The school kicked off the week United in Prayer asking all families to gather at home to pray simultaneously for our Diocese of Tucson and our St. Ambrose Parishioners. Other new activities included the “This Is Us” video highlighting all our wonderful school families and sending a postcard to St. Ambrose contributors thanking them for their support. This year’s postcard showcased class pictures in their now all too familiar Zoom classes.
Another highlight of the week was Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day. Anyone driving by the school could catch a glimpse of the wonderful teachers and staff’s big head pictures along Tucson Boulevard. St. Ambrose Catholic School especially thanks all teachers for their hard work and adaptability during the pandemic.
The St. Ambrose community also wanted to pay homage to the amazing first responders in the area who have worked tirelessly over the last months by delivering a poster and healthy snacks thanking them for their efforts. The school visited a fire station as well as a police station nearby.
To close the week, St. Ambrose planned a Drive-Thru parade for our most special day of the week, Student Appreciation Day! Many families joined us for this special celebration.
Circumstances may have forced the school to adapt to new ways of celebrating this special week however the bond of the St. Ambrose community remains stronger than ever.
Happy Catholic Schools Week to all other schools within our Diocese!
