Last week we held our fifth workshop in
Astronomy for Catholics in Ministry and Education, or ACME, at the Redemptorist Renewal Center just northwest of Tucson. Why do we call it “ACME”? Because our workshop gives folks the tools they need to chase after that elusive understanding the universe, the way an astronomer does but also with the eyes of faith.
Along with roadrunners and coyotes, these teachers and pastors saw the stars at night with small telescopes and cameras, while visiting professional telescopes and astronomy labs during the day.
Bishop Weisenburger joined us for Mass one evening; the last night, Fr. James Kurzynski celebrated our liturgy under the stars… after chasing off a few coyotes hanging around the altar.
