Vail, AZ - St. Rita in the Desert (www.stritainthedesert.org) will host a Vincentian Mission from July 30 to August 2, 2022, in the Pope St. John XXIII Center. The Mission will begin with the celebration of Mass: Saturday at 5 pm, Sunday at 7 am, 9 am, 11 am, or 1 pm). It will continue Monday at 6 pm and conclude Tuesday at 6 pm.
A Parish Mission is a special time for our community to gather and gain insights into our faith-filled life. It is a time of grace and renewal through services and talks filled with stories, examples, and meaning (https://www.vpmc.org/parish-missions/why-a-parish-mission-2/).
Frank Hall, Pastoral Council President, remarked, “We are thrilled to bring the Mission experience to St. Rita and faith community of Tucson.” The focus of this Mission will be “Faith and the Family,” centered around the Eucharist, and emphasize the teachings delivered during the homily. This is a family event—all are invited. Receptions will follow on Monday and Tuesday evenings in the Parish Hall at 8 pm.
Fr. Richard Gielow, C.M., will be the main celebrant and facilitator. Who’s Who in America’s Midwest and Religious section describes Fr. Richard as a “well-known preacher and prestigious retreat director.” Fr. Richard’s services and talks will expound the importance of each family member, the Holy Spirit and the family, and the virtues of making family life joyful. Fr. Richard’s sister, MaryAnn Gielow, is the Director of Development for St. Cyril of Alexandria Parish in Tucson. For more information on Fr. Richard and a Vincentian Mission, see www.vpmc.org/.
The St. Rita in the Desert’s St. Vincent DePaul Society will be conducting a food drive in conjunction with the Mission. Please consider donating food items: canned fruit, pasta sauce, canned chicken, packaged mash potatoes or canned green beans. (Please check the expiration date on these items.) These food items will be collected in the Narthex of the Pope St. John XXIII Center. Grocery store gift cards are always welcomed.
