This year, the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School community in Casa Grande, Arizona welcomes Dr. Susan Borzych as its new school principal. In addition to her 27 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and principal at various schools in Colorado, Borzych also brings with her the professional experience of Director of Operations at a charter school in Colorado.
Borzych lived in Colorado with her family for more than 35 years. After living in Illinois and Nebraska for a while, they moved to Arizona, where she worked as the Director of Assessment for Higley Unified School District in Gilbert, Arizona. Now living in Casa Grande, Dr. Borzych is proud to continue her career in education at a Catholic school.
She says that her favorite part about Catholic education is “the weaving of spiritual life amidst formal academic education with an emphasis on faith, family, academic excellence, and service.”
Borzych says faith is the rock and foundation of her life. She turns to her faith in her role as a principal, too. She says that in all decision-making in her job, by relying on her faith to guide her, she feels that she can “ensure that all people are treated fairly and respectfully, that students have the opportunity to become the best, well-rounded Catholic citizens they can be, and that honor and service is given to our Church and Catholic community.”
From her many years of teaching experience, Borzych references an online prayer resource that she believes perfectly states what her prayer is for Catholic students and their families. From this online resource, she shares this prayer with the community:
Lord, we pray that you will help pupils and parents as they begin this new school year and allow every pupil to feel your presence and blessings each and every day. Father, we pray that students will not fear because Your Word encourages us to be strong and courageous. We pray that you will open the eyes of every student to receive new challenges, revelation, and insight in Jesus’ Name. Allow every student and parent to support teachers as they educate children of all ages, and give every student a spirit of enthusiasm, motivation, and self-discipline. Give every parent a spirit of understanding so that they will effectively listen to the needs of their child. Father, inspire every student to do the best they can this year. Amen.
When she is not working, Borzych enjoys spending time with her husband, their two children, and their five grandchildren. She and her family enjoy golfing, traveling, and are avid “spectator sports fans” of most other sports.
Please keep Borzych and the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in your prayers as they begin a new school year!
